Life on Purpose

If you live anywhere close to Jackson, TN I want to invite you to attend Life on Purpose. Don McLaughlin from the North Atlanta Church of Christ will be the featured speaker. Jeff Howell will be leading the worship with our Skyline worship team. This is going to be a great time of worship for the entire Jackson community, no matter what your background.

Don’t underestimate the power of worship. When we come together to worship we put God in His proper place. When we join our hearts in honoring God as supreme, we are reminded of our place in His world.

When God is lifted up, we find ourselves on our knees. When we find ourselves on our knees we look around and see others who are on their knees. So all of us who come together on our knees before the cross, as it were, are united in acknowledging that God is God. And we are also united in acknowledging that we are not God.

God’s rightful place is being lifted up in worship and adoration. Our rightful place is humbly bowing before Him.

The theme of Life on Purpose is Grace Unlimited. Something happens to you when you realize that your standing before God is not something you achieve because you are perfect in your reasoning, perfect in your understanding, perfect in your worship, perfect in your doctrine, perfect in your religious practices, perfect in your obedience, or perfect in your lifestyle. Something happens when you realize that your standing before God is achieved by God’s grace in spite of your imperfections.

There is a huge difference between believing that you earn your salvation and that you receive it as a free gift from God. There is a big difference between believing that you are saved by grace or saved by works.

When we worship God, giving Him the adoration and praise He deserves, we are reminded that He is God and we are not. We are reminded that we are saved by God, not by ourselves. We are reminded that all of us who are God’s people are equals in that we are all sinners and equals in that we are all saved by God’s grace.

I am excited about Life on Purpose and invite you to join us!
